About library lending partnerships

Some libraries have lending partnerships with other library systems. Lending partnerships in Libby are similar to interlibrary loans at physical libraries, where you can borrow titles from any library in the same network.

If your home library has a lending partnership, here's how it works in Libby:

  • You'll see a "Partner Libraries" list in the Menu. You can borrow titles from these collections automatically using your home library card. If you wish, you can visit and browse these partner libraries directly using this list; you don't need to re-enter your card number or add a separate card.
  • When browsing, Libby automatically shows the best availability for titles from all of your saved libraries, including partner libraries.

Depending on the partnership, you may not be able to place holds at partner libraries, or you might move up the wait list for holds at partner libraries more slowly. If you have any questions about your library's lending partnership, reach out to your library directly.
