Adjusting accessibility features

Libby provides several accessibility features to meet your needs.

To find these settings, go to Menu Libby menu, in the navigation footer, then Accessibility (under "Settings").

Effects

  • Reduce Color Variation: When enabled, Libby's interface uses neutral colors with good contrast. Book covers are not affected by this setting.
  • Reduce Text Variation: When enabled, text appearance is simplified throughout the app and uses a single font weight (semi-bold). There are fewer formatting changes, rarer usage of all caps, and no italics.
  • Reduce Motion: When enabled, animations used in transitions are reduced throughout the app. You can also set this preference at the device level, and Libby will use it automatically.
  • Reduce Vibrations (mobile app only): When enabled, haptics (or vibrations) are turned off in the app. You can also set this preference at the device level, and Libby will use it automatically.

Orientation Locking (mobile app only)

  • Smart Orientation: When enabled, Libby adjusts your screen orientation in specific circumstances (e.g., when a publisher specifies that a picture book must be read in landscape orientation).
  • System Orientation: When enabled, Libby always uses your device orientation.

Timing

Adjust the amount of time that pop-up messages stay visible. By default, pop-up messages in Libby are visible for 3 seconds. Move the slider right to increase or left to decrease the time visible, or move to the left edge to hide messages altogether.
