Navigating to different parts of a title
Once you open a title, you can easily navigate to different sections and to your bookmarks and highlights:
To show or hide the navigation bar and timeline
In a book or magazine, tap the center of the screen to show or hide the navigation bar and timeline. These areas are always visible in an audiobook.
The navigation bar (at the top of the screen) includes different features in the reader or audio player and a Back button to go back to your Shelf (
).
The timeline (at the bottom of the screen) shows your place in the title, chapter breaks or article thumbnails, your bookmarks, and your highlights.
To see the table of contents or list of articles
Tap Table Of Contents on the timeline. Tap a chapter or article in the list to jump to it.
While reading an article in a magazine, tap 
(at the bottom of the screen) to see the full list of articles.
To skip to the next chapter or article
Tap the number on the right side of the chapter name.
While reading an article in a magazine, tap 
(at the bottom of the screen) to open the next article.
To skip to the beginning of the current chapter
Tap the number on the left side of the chapter name.
To skip to the previous article in a magazine
While reading an article, tap 
(at the bottom of the screen).
To navigate to a more precise position in the title
Slide the timeline at the bottom of the screen.
To jump to a recent place you've visited
If you check an endnote, search for a term, revisit a map at the beginning of a book, or otherwise jump to another part of a title, you can:
- Tap or below the timeline to jump to your last position.
- Tap
to see a list of your recent places in the title and choose another location you've visited.
To search in a book or magazine
Tap 
, then tap a search result to jump to that location in the title.
To jump to a bookmark, note, or highlight
Tap 
at the top of the screen, then tap the passage.
